Tips in Finding the Right Designer Brands for Your Clothing

How to Buy Designer Brand Clothing

There are many kinds of designer brand clothing available in the market right now. For women, there are designer dresses, skirts, lingerie and formal dresses. For men, there are suits, jackets, polos, jeans and shirts.
Designer brand clothing can be purchased over the internet. There are buy-and-sell websites, classified ads websites and clothing manufacturer websites which the shopper can access. Searching for the right apparel can be done by conducting a keyword search, such as Best Selling, Newest, Oldest, Price (Low-High), Price (High-Low), Brand (A-Z), Brand (Z-A), Sale, Highest Rated.
Designer brand clothing can also be purchased from retailers such as department stores and clothing stores. The advantage when buying from stores is that you can try out the clothes you want to purchase in fitting rooms, unlike when purchasing online, where you cannot wear the clothes before you pay for them.
There are some common-sense rules to follow when buying designer brand clothing.
1. Buy designer brand clothing only from reputable retailers. Do a background check of the retailer, to make sure he/she is not a fly-by-night operation.
2. Check the specifications of the clothes, such as size, color and material (fabric) used. Also, check the washing instructions. Some designer brand clothing can be washed only via hand washing, while some can only be dry cleaned.
3. Conduct a research regarding the designer brand clothing you are planning to buy. Ask around, conduct an internet research, or read product reviews in newspapers and fashion magazines. Check the good points and bad points of the clothing you are planning to buy, such as fit, durability, color retention, workmanship, etc.
4. Watch out for counterfeit, imitation, or fake designer brand clothing. Counterfeit, imitation, or fake designer brand clothing are usually cheaper than the original designer brand clothing. The best protection against accidentally buying counterfeit, imitation, or fake designer brand clothing is to buy only from certified dealers of the designer brand clothing you are planning to buy.
5. If possible, buy the clothes you are planning to buy during off season sales or end-season sales, in order to save money. For example, at a winter end-season sale, you can buy winter clothes which you can use during the next winter.
6. Be sure to try out the clothes you are planning to buy before buying them, to check if the clothes fit or are too large or too small. Most department stores and specialty shops have fitting rooms where you can try wearing the clothes you are planning to buy before paying for them. This is one of the reasons why it is better to buy clothes in department stores and clothes stores. If you buy the clothes online, the only way you can check if the clothes fit is after they are delivered to you. When buying the clothes online, be sure to check the company policy regarding returns and exchanges of purchased items.
Designer clothes are usually made from high quality fabrics and have better stitching compared to regular or bargain clothes. If you can afford to buy them, then by all means, buy them. They are investments which you can use for the long term.
